Weligama’s broad, sweeping bay is widely considered Sri Lanka’s finest beginner surf destination, with long, gentle waves and experienced local instructors. The beach town has an unhurried character with good seafood, guesthouses, and a fishing village at its western end, adding authentic local flavour. Famous for stilt fishermen. Best from November to April.
